2017 conference

CollectiveConf Main Updated.jpg

This year’s conference is held in the great city of Metro Atlanta, Georgia where entertainment thrives! On Friday and Saturday, October 6-7, 2017 we are hosting two full days of classes and workshops, including stellar presenters and special guests. On Thursday evening (October 5) The Collective Music Conference will open with THE SHED SPACE, a Meet and Greet & Musician Shed/Open Mic Night which is Open to the Public. On Friday evening (October 6) we will capture the true essence of entertainment during our live music experience called THE COLLECTIVE MIXER. This exciting event will be held at HOME at The Battery Atlanta, one of the city's newest 'rooftop' venues, connected to the recently built Atlanta Braves Stadium.

In our second year as an organized conference, we, along with our esteemed guests, look forward to impacting an upwards of 1,000 creative millennials from all over the USA and international cities.  The Collective Music Conference has an established Social Media Impact on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram exceeding 2 million millennial based followers.

In 2017 at The Collective Music Conference, our theme is Speaking to the heART of the Artist. We aim to bring awareness to mental and emotional health issues in the music industry, while providing available resources in efforts to decrease the negative effects of mental illness.

Musicians and music industry professionals are 3 times more likely to suffer from mental illnesses like; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and addictions than the general public. Often times the telling symptoms of anxiety (racing thoughts, increased energy, restlessness, etc.) and depression (low mood, crying spells, fatigue, insomnia, etc.) are masked as creative energy.

Based on a study published by Help Musicians, in a report titled, “Can Music Make You Sick?”  2,211 musicians and music industry professionals were surveyed and it was found that 71% have experienced panic attacks and anxiety and 65% have suffered depression. Other studies have shown that people in creative professions are 121% more likely to suffer from a mental illness and nearly 50% are more likely to commit suicide than those in other professions.

The Collective Music Conference is determined to take a stand on reducing these percentages by making necessary information, strategies, tools, and resources available to our attendees.

In 2016 our special guests included, but not limited to:

Grammy Award-Winning Broadway Performer/Multi Platinum Artist Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child,

Grammy and Soul Train Award-Winning Faith-Based Artist Tasha Cobbs,

Grammy Award-Winning producer Fred Jerkins of the famed production team DarkChild (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, J-LO)
